Our one day Outdoor First Aid (Emergency Action) course is ideal for workers in rural and remote settings and for outdoor enthusiasts. It may also suit those acting in a supporting role who will be accompanied by a more qualified first aider. This course is also ideal for Duke of Edinburgh award participants.
Please note that it will validate some NGB qualifications although some will require a 16-hour course. Please check it meets your needs before booking.
The course involves 8 hours of tuition and is assessed through ongoing observations of practical skills. The main difference between this course and the 16-hour course is its focus on treating life threatening emergencies without time being spent on longer term incident management. The aim of the course is to enable students to recognise when someone has a medical emergency and be able to give immediate appropriate assistance at first aid level.
This qualification is externally regulated and meets the standards to appear upon the national qualifications frameworks of England and Wales. The content of this course is matched with the Institute for Outdoor Learning Statement of Good Practice on Outdoor First Aid at Band 2. This is hosted on the Institute for Outdoor Learning website.
